The main accounts you will need to start trading on the different prices (odds) offered on the exchanges are Betfair, and WBX. If you sign up for each of them, then you can look at each and try and get the lowest price on your lay, this way your liability should the horse win is lower. More often than not the prices are usually best on Betfair, simply because it is the largest of the three, therefore having more competition.
Betfair is the largest of the three and has a commission rate starting at 5% through to 2% depending on your spend. Your rate depends also upon how often you use your account as it decays due to inactivity. They have some great new account deals like a free £25 bet when you sign up. is the next largest but the oldest of the three. Commission rates are the same as Betfair but the decay time for lower rates is longer. You get £10 placed in your account if you simply sign up and then add a £20 stake. Click here to go to the sign up form.
WBX is the third largest and its commission rate depends upon the number of entrants in the market. So if you have 5 or more horses in a race, you pay 5%. If there are 3 or 4 you pay the corresponding percentage i.e. 3% for 3 entrants. WBX has a great deal at the moment where you can get £25 free betting stake and also a Soccer shirt of your choice either from the English Premiership, UEFA teams or classic shirts such as the 1970 Brazil shirt.
To join up, all you will need is your name and contact details, then you can just add money to your accounts via either a credit/debit card or also through online payment services like Paypal or WorldPay (this differs between each of the exchanges).
We would recommend that you split your betting bank between the three exchanges, although most being in Betfair, ie. 60% of your pot in Betfair, 20% in BetDAQ and 20% in WBX, but this can be changed at any time due to your using preferences. Simply just withdraw from one into your bank account and then add to another.
